Home Theater Entertainment: What's Next For You and Your Leather Couch
Written by Creative Leather on 2/4/2012

So, the Consumer Electronics Show, or CES for short, came and went and even though you have a tangential interest in electronics you weren’t about to follow every report about every smartphone and tablet looking to outdo one another in the pile upon pile of hype. All you’re interested in is wanting to know how to beef up your already impressive home theater. You have a good system, a good set up with plush leather seating so you and your family can enjoy the latest home video offerings in absolute comfort, but you’re always curious to hear if there’s something coming you need to be aware of. Fear not, as here is the latest and greatest that came out of CES which you can easily digest:

Thin is in. OLED televisions are making home theaters more of a reality to those who want one. Compared to LEDs, OLED televisions are looking to take thinness to extremes. LG has a screen that has a thickness of only 4mm and is easily surpassing is less lettered cousin as the hottest commodity to grace living rooms in years.

Now, for the geeks in the audience who really want to get their nerd on in the comfort of a home theater with a 100+ inch projection screen that’s showcasing your latest hand to hand battles with a 12 year-old in Guam who’s showing you who really is boss of Call of Duty: MW3 there is now a $6,000 gaming chair that can fit wonderfully inside a spacious home theater. The Emperor chair from Novelquest comes equipped with 3 LED mounts, built in Bose speakers and possesses enough attitude with its imposing design that it would make any gamer lock himself inside the house with no hope of ever coming out alive.

Speaking of gaming, long gone are the days of thick aviator style headphones. SteelSeries Flux was a surprising entry into this year’s electronics offerings at CES. Replacing the over-the-ear design are Beats By Dr. Dre inspired round headphones that are foldable, have a detachable mic, and has a second audio port for tandem listening in case you want to use them to watch a movie on your portable device, making them an ideal choice for airplanes or long car rides in the backseat.
